I have spent more than half of my life educating and supporting women and families in pregnancy and childbirth. My own two home births were straightforward, empowering and celebratory. My main mission has been to let all women know that they too can celebrate in their pregnancies and births; that there really isn’t anything to fear; and they are perfectly capable of having the birth that they imagine. Much of my journey, besides gaining knowledge and skills, has been to develop empathy for other women’s experiences and to support them where they are in whatever way is needed.
My exploration and study of childbirth began over 30 years ago , when I picked up a book entitled Birth by Caterine Millinarie. It lit a fire and passion that has never left me. In the ensuing years I completed three years of study at the Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery in San Diego, CA, four years of apprenticeship in two home birth practices and a busy birth center and most recently completed the MEAC accredited program in midwifery at Maternidad La Luz in El Paso, TX. I also practiced for 15 years as a doula. I have attended over 400 births in varying capacities in home, birth center and hospital settings.
I am currently a Licensed Midwife through the Wyoming Board of Midwifery and a Certified Professional Midwife through the North American Registry of Midwives.
Originally from the east coast,I have called the southwest, specifically northern AZ, home for the past 30+ years. I have two adult children and two grandchildren. I recently moved to the Casper area in order to be closer to my family.
